Tsumugi Rintaro (紬 凛太郎, Tsumugi Rintarō) is a student at Chidori Public High School. He is also one of the main characters of Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku.
Appearance[]
Rintaro is taller than average standing at 190cm, with spiked blond hair (dyed) although he laters dyes it back to black which is his natural hair colour. He has brown colour eyes and wears several ear piercings.
Personality[]
Rintaro is shown to be a rather laid back individual. He has been shown earlier on in his life to have a rather pessimistic outlook in life given that he did not see any point in passing exams and resigned with the fact that he would fail his exams. He is also shown to be rather sarcastic as he held some level of contempt towards Chidori when comparing the standards with the neighbouring Kikyo regarding Chidori as "full of morons". The reason for his pessimistic view was that nobody in his previous schools would want to be friends with him over his appearance and as such he adopted a somewhat rebellious personality by wearing piercings and dying his hair from black to blonde which further alienated him from his peers.
After meeting Kaoruko, Rintaro's attitude begins to change as he becomes increasingly motivated in achieving passes with her help. Eventually he falls for Kaoruko because of the kindness and compassion she shows him. After passing an exam he completely abandons his pessimistic outlook on life and starts to feel more optimistic. Rintaro also displays a level of defensiveness particularly towards Kaoruko such when on reflex he blocked Shohei from confronting Kaoruko or the many times he has dealt with delinquints who were harassing her.
Despite Rintaro's pessimism, he is a kind and empathetic person particularly towards his friend group, Kaoruko and eventually her fellow classmates. This is exemplified by his willingness to learn how to bake to provide gifts for his friends such as during Waguri's birthday to which he gave her a cake early during the day. He also humbles himself in regards to the cakes he bakes, even going as far to giving up some time in his summer vacation to learn bakery. Rintaro is also charitable and respectful as he was willing to meet Waguri's friends, being fully understanding that although they weren't comfortable talking in their first meeting given the School's rivalries, he built rapport with the girls, even going as far dyeing his hair from blonde back to black inorder to be impressionable and approachable.
